Perodua QV-E Launched in Malaysia: Brand’s First Electric SUV with 370 km Range and Advanced Safety Features
Perodua has introduced its first battery electric vehicle, the QV-E, signalling a major step in the Malaysian carmaker’s move towards electrification.
Short for “Quest for Visionary Electric Vehicle” and pronounced “queue-vee”, the QV-E departs from Perodua’s usual Daihatsu-based foundations. Instead, it rides on a new platform co-developed with Magna Steyr, designed for A- and B-segment models and capable of supporting hybrid and range-extended electric powertrains.
Classified as a B-segment coupe-styled SUV, the QV-E measures 4.17 metres long, 1.80 metres wide and 1.50 metres tall, with a 2.68-metre wheelbase. It offers 158 mm of ground clearance, a 5.2-metre turning radius and 320 litres of boot space with the rear seats up.
Power is delivered to the front wheels via a permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 150 kW and 285 Nm, paired with a 52.5 kWh LFP battery from CATL. The setup enables a 0–100 kph time of 7.5 seconds and a WLTP-rated range of up to 370 kilometres.
Charging is limited to 6.6 kW on AC and 60 kW on DC. An AC charge takes around eight hours, while a 30–80 per cent DC fast charge can be completed in about 30 minutes. Vehicle-to-load functionality is also available.
Safety equipment includes a full suite of driver assistance systems such as autonomous emergency braking, lane and blind-spot assistance, adaptive cruise control and traffic jam assist. The QV-E also features child presence detection, a dashcam, a 360-degree camera and six airbags.
